Remuneration for Council General Managers and Senior Management positions is influenced by factors such as the size of the council, budget and location, as well as the responsibility of the role.

Total Remuneration packages for council senior staff (see S332 of the NSW Local Government Act 1993) must be equal to or greater than NSW Senior Executives Service (SES) Level 1.
Senior Management roles may also be covered by the provisions of the Local Government (State) Award, which sets out the minimum pay rates and conditions.
